Clinical case

During a physical exam, the doctor noticed a change in the feel of the liver and an enlargement of the liver. The patient also complains of fatigue, weakness and exhaustion, a loss of appetite and weight loss. The patient appears slightly jaundiced. The doctor suspects cirrhosis, which is is confimed with a blood test and a needle biopsy. Where is connective tissue normally found in the liver? What is a liverplate? What is the contents of the Space of Disse? Name the structures that form a classical liver lobule. How many kinds of liver lobules are described in the textbooks and how do they differ from a classical liver lobule? Describe the flow of blood through a liver lobule. Describe the flow of bile through a liver lobule.
